SOLD – Original abstract, 24×18 acrylic on canvas, “Live”
Not my typical piece, but the why is more important than the what in this case. Lately, I’ve talked to several people who are at various stages of not wanting to live anymore. At one time in my life I was there too. I know how dark it can be.
Often what sustains them, and gives them a reason to live, is a child, or their children. That’s what this painting represents. Through the emotional pain emerges the light of a child’s innocence and unconditional love for their struggling parent. Its for sure the reason I live today. I honor people’s choices, but often hope others will find that light. The two overlapping shapes in the center represent connection, which is the antidote to self hate. There is a poem I’ve included just above “Live” about a father from the book “Wild at Heart.” Lastly, the actual good art in this painting was done by my granddaughter Remi, and her signature is included.
